![]() After you use a drop away arrow rest several times, you should never see any marks on the bottoms of the fetching. The arrow rest needs to be easy to use and set up, be of a high quality, and outperform competitors. To be considered the best, the drop away arrow rest must move away from the arrow upon release every time. Increasing your speed and accuracy will improve your shot while you are in a difficult position or if the game is moving. Since the best drop away arrow rests do not hinder the arrow, the speed and accuracy increase. ![]() What Makes a Great Drop Away Arrow Rest?ĭrop away arrow rests should fully move away from the arrow when the bow is fired. When you draw, the cable tension is released and the launcher is lifted.īoth designs work well, so the choice is yours on which one you choose and feel more comfortable with while hunting. With little contact to the arrow, this is a great option for both hunters and target shooters. It has to be attached to the downward buss cable to trigger the mechanism. When at rest, the activation cord pulls the launcher downward. This innovative drop away design from Quality Archery Design uses a proprietary velocity drop away technology. This approach will help you hold the arrow in the right position. Now, place your index finger at top of the arrow and your middle finger at the bottom part. Let me know if you’d like to learn more about tuning. The limb-driven design has springs that are tensioning in a continuous upward direction. The string needs to line up nicely with the grooved shaft of your arrow. When these align, your arrow will fly more true, or not “wobble” during flight. Though a budget model, this arrow rest isnt entirely stripped down. Regardless of which rest you choose, you need to have your bow tuned so that your nocking point, arrow and rest are in sync. Top 3 Best Drop Away Arrow Rest On The Market 6 Best Arrow Rests Reviewed. If you’re a competitor, it may be your choice.Ī full containment rest is the most economically priced rest in the line-up, but I will caution you, “You get what you pay for.” If you’re hunting and are looking for durability, you may want a machined aluminum, rather than a plastic, frame on this rest style. However, in the controlled environment of a competition, the blade rest provides minimal arrow contact. I don’t want the arrow falling off during a shot on an animal. ![]() A drop away eliminates this interference.Ī blade rest also eliminates drag, or friction, but it doesn’t keep the arrow on the rest. The slightest amount of drag, or friction, against my arrow can change my shot immensely. I want the most energy coming out of my bow so that when my arrow reaches its target it does the most damage. Why? - Because I have a short draw length and only pull 55 pounds on my hunting bow. If you’re just getting started, your budget may influence your decision. What might be best for a competitive shooter may not be best for a hunter. Price: There are a variety of price points available for drop away arrow rests, so consider your budget when making a decision. These are a few key features that might influence your decision on which bow rest to choose. Since I feel that most of these topics come down to personal preference, I’ll tell you some of the plusses and minuses of both styles, and add in another - the blade style, so you can make your own decision. Be it, traditional versus compound, fixed versus expandable, or drop away versus full containment, it all comes down to you, what you’re doing in archery and what works best for you. With 100 percent arrow containment, this drop away style rest gives you all of the advantages of a shoot through rest without slowing down your arrow speed. In archery, there are multiple “which is better” debates. Reliable, quiet, and efficient, this is hands down the best arrow rest available to the modern archer.

I couldn't get out of the game using the usual select+start or any other way, managed to kill emulationstation via ctrl-alt-del using keyboard. I tried going again in retroarch using keyboard and went to the online updater and downloaded a few random things - after that rebooted and started emulationstation again - this time the game would start, I could hear the game sounds but the screen remained black, with the exception of a frame counter on the lower left that was incrementing continuously (not a frames-per-second but a frames-since-starting-the-game thing) The bigger problem was that no game was launching - screen would turn black and come back to emulationstation psx game list. Now, when started emulationstation the psx game list has every game twice (presumably once for the cue file and the second for the bin/img) The only out of the ordinary thing was step 4 - once I got into retroarch gui my controller stopped working completely, and when trying my other input method (bluetooth mouse), only scroll wheel working - never mind, I connected a keyboard and hit escape to get out of retroarch gui. I followed steps 1-8 (hopefully correctly), no joy. It's that easier, it only gets complicated when you want to customize things to your liking. I have given more than enough information to get you playing games. Ive never used AEL someone else will have to help you with that I'm affraid, like I said in another post, I came from retropie that's why I chose the emulationstation approach as I know how it works. I'm going to look closely at your options and re-evaluate my approach, probably emulationstation seems best since I've seen it working with RetroPie. The fact that it did work for SNES was encouraging. I'm not tied to the current approach, I simply chose it as it was looking like the minimal amount of fuss. In AEL configuration there's a "Check retroarch BIOSes" option that if you point your Retroarch system directory to the place you copied the BIOSes to it checks them and in my case the checksums for what's expecting for PSX (5500, 55) match.īut this is what Retroarch would expect, and as far as I understand I'm using RetroPlayer. I managed to place the bioses to ~/.kodi/addons/-rearmed/resources/system and the missing-bios message goes away, but the emulator now core-dumps I can't see where it tells me to upload the bioses, it's showing up briefly on a upper-right bubble when I start a rom, but it goes away before scrolling to show the whole message. I first had the issue where PSX roms would start (although complaining about missing bios) but the buttons would be dead, pads/joysticks funtional - can't even start a game without working buttons. This worked like a charm for SNES, but for PSX not so much. Thank you robmcc83, I really do appreciate!īased on your earlier hint I went and chosen a different path: installed AEL from a zip file and the desired emulators: snes9x2010 and pcsx-rearmed from standard LE/Kodi repos, then proceeded to define the launchers that called RetroPlayer (at least to my still shaky understanding that's AEL/RetroPlayer approach that none of your 3 alternatives cover).
